Students from the department of Architectural Engineering in the UAEU have attended the Doors, windows and facades summit in Dubai in 27th September. Accompanied by two faculty members (Dr Amna Shibeika and Dr Maatouk Khoukhi) and one PhD researcher (Daniel Attoye), the students benefited from the related exhibition while attending CPD certified workshops in:
These workshops as well as the exhibition were directly related to the students learning in relation to the following courses: ARCH 532 Sustainable architecture and urban environments in hot climate, Arch 585 and 590 Graduation Project I & II, and Arch Arch 440 Construction Project Management.
In Tuesday 03rd October 2017, students from the department of Architectural Engineering, who are undertaking the ARCH 325 Building Construction Components course, along with the course instructors (Dr Amna Shibeika and Dr Khaled Galal) have attended a field visit to the new Al Ain hospital project in Al Ain. The students met with the project manager and engineers and explored the development of the construction process on site. The visit addressed the course learning outcomes and enhanced the students’ knowledge about internal and external finishes, openings, vertical circulation and building joints.
